I just bought an Alpa 10d in excellent condition. I would like to be able to use the meter but an adapter for the battery compartment is necessary for non-mercury batteries. The Small Battery Company in Britain makes the best known one but they are out of stock. Does anyone know of any other sources for adapters ? Thanks in advance for responding.

There are size adapters usually available on eBay. They can be made of aluminum, brass or copper. With these size adapters you can use a set of 675 zinc-air hearing aid batteries. When you are not using the camera, take out the batteries and tape over the air holes. The batteries will last longer this way. This should hold you until the adapters you are looking for become available again. My Alpa and it's lens need an overhaul so for now I am content to look at them.

I use zinc air hearing aid batteries in all cameras of that vintage, with the Spotmatic has an exception as it uses a bridge circuit which will adjust the current from what ever battery is being used. I was loaned an 11e for week, zinc air seem to work well. Knowing Alpa wondering if it uses a bridge circuit at well?
