Perhaps this belongs in galleries. If so, please move. This afternoon I went to a show at the gallery of the local community college (Phoenix College) exhibiting some of the work of their former teacher, Allen Dutton. He had studied under Minor White back in the late 40's or early 50's and did an "Arizona, Then and Now" book in LF as well as many other sort of traditional Az. type photography projects (desert landscapes [some hide and seek stuff which is cool], sand dunes, cactus) but also explosions and nudes. When I first moved here (1979) I became aware of his work when a collector had me cut a mat for a piece he'd purchased from Allen. It was a shockingly unusual photo collage made from (I'm guessing here because it seems to me to be a way to do it) multiple prints of several photos, cut, feathered, pasted and rephotographed creating Dali influenced images. I must add that his technique, however he did it, was impeccable. Seriously, even to make these in photoshop would be a pain. I never had the opportunity to meet him, though of my photographer friends that have met him he was widely regarded as quite a character, doing as much outrageous art as he could with other people's money and for that alone I salute him. The show hangs in the Fischl Galley on the campus through the 4th of April if anyone is interested.
