All the hype about the Pentax, how come I didn't see this until now?

I don't know. I have seen several references to this camera on several forums. Maybe you didn't notice because it is still a prototype and there is no release schedule out yet.

Will it make me cool enough to hang out with Leica boys? 😜

Maybe it will increase interest/prices in the original Rollei 35. And then I can sell mine for a profit!

Likely the opposite. Reproductions of synthesizers and vintage computers have, in my experience, driven prices down, since the premium then becomes only for pure collectors, not users.

With the new Pentax 17 apparently selling for around $500 (half frame, manual zone focus, no full manual exposure option), this auto-focus Rollei 35 will be way out of my price range...

According to Japan Camera Hunter (who seems to have some sort of 'in' with MiNT), the price is going to be $799.

B&H is already listing them at $499. I din't look into the delivery details, since I have no interest in half-frame 35mm.

Maybe you posted this in the wrong thread. This thread is about the Rollei 35AF camera from MiNT. It's a full frame auto-focus camera.

The video glossed over a few facts, the lens had glass and plastic elements, I did not hear how many elements, the ISO range,? Has few nice features like the film type reminders on the front along with how many exposures. If anyone can read German, what are the shutter speeds? Does not seem to have an option for external flash.
