I would like to try an all alkaline print dev. process to be able to go straight from fix to selenium toner (as described by AA in "The Print" and others in apug). As I understand, this requires a non-acid stop betw. dev and fix, and most importantly: an alkaline fix.
Today I am using acid stop bath and Tetenal Superfix, but I don't know the pH of this fix. Is Tetenal Superfix pH-neutral, or even alkaline, so I can drop the prints straight into the selenium toner (provided I replace the acid stop with a water stop)?
Or do I need to mix home-brew fix (TF-3, or AA's "Plain Hypo" or similar)?
In case of the latter, what then are the major difference between sodium thiosulfate and ammonium thiosulfate. "The Film Developer's Cookbook" mentions something about the sodium thiosulfate not being fully efficient with modern emulsions (the book refers to Haist on this IIRC).
