As per Carson Grave's book, I have taken a very dense negative, and I've drawn an X through it corner to corner, and projected it large. Without even needing to print, on my baseboard, i can see that the lower too corners of my image are out of focus.

Unfortunately, beseler's instructions about alignment are unhelpful. The screws in the negative stage are in free rotation, and i don't know how to adjust them.
Does anyone have any experience with this item?

Also, I've noticed that when I lever the lamphouse into place, it lowers the front of the negative stage by about 2mm. That seems to be my problem, but I don't know the solution.

Hi, you need to find out what has happened to your screws that don't tighten down. Do they screw directly into the negative stage and have stripped out the threads, or have the nuts fallen off? If it is the same as a Beseler 67C, you loosen them slightly, level the negative stage, and then tighten them back up to hold the negative stage in alignment.

I've found the nuts that were in the inward facing side of the negative; from there i was able to tighten and loose confidently.

The front side of the negative stage has about 1/2" of vertical play, but i don't see an effect on the focus plane of my reflected image.
