i have a durst 138s that i want to align i see the side to side on the head, baseboard and lens stage . how is the front to rear on the neg stage and lens stage made? do you level baseboard first or do you use the baseboard adjustment to align to the lens and negative stage , i did not see anything about alignment in the instructions,
thanks

Get a laser tool, align the baseboard with the negative stage then the lens.
Takes 2 minutes, works perfectly.. doesnt get any better.

ok so align baseboard to neg stage first and don't worry if baseboard is a little unlevel as long as it aligned to neg stage. right.

It is critical that the lens axis and negative be perpendicular. This is set at the factory. The baseboard can be aligned to those two with the adjustment screws.

Well, for sure it is set at the factory. 50 years later is a different story..

That is too bad if the alignment is off. Damaged in shipping? You will have to re-manufacture the device with provisions for adjustment. Frequently an adjustable lensboard is fitted.

The alignment being off should not necessitate to re-manufacture something. Unless something is fractured or is bent to such extent that alignment no longer works.
What am I overlooking?
