My good buddy and source of all things photographic has let me dive into his collection of old brass lenses - for experimentation only, of course. I took a few old Goerz double anastigmatics, a Dagor or 2, a Euryplan from Schulz and Billerbeck, Berlin (pre merger with Meyer, I think) and an oddity. I've been unable to find out anything on the Alfred Koehler f5.5 double anastigmat full plate lens that was in the pile. The only hit on Google was a post by our own Seawolf66 asking about reflections in this new (to him) lens. The only info in the Vade Mecum under Koehler is for E Koehler, not my friend Alfred.

Any info out there?

The Schulze & Billerbeck lens may surprice you. I have a 240mm 5.6 Eyruplan from around 1907 in an Alphax shutter. Came with my 8x10 B&J It has a huge image circle and is a convertible. Very nice lens.
And yes, Meyer did gobble up S&B around 1910 or so.
Hope to hear about your relationship with that lens.

Whitey: Does your weight a ton like mine, in a Volute shutter the lens says 5x8 and focus 8 inch's , Mine has a triple scale on it 8-1/2 and 16-1/2 and 14 F7.8, if I find anything I let you know:

Sorry Whitey I forgot about this piece of info;;

Thanks. This one has 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 f5.5 on it. It's the 5.5 that's a bit strange. I can't find any other reference to it anywhere - the ad you scanned and attached has no reference to anything but f4.5 and f8. It's a barrel lens and yes, it weighs a ton. I'll take a few sheets of 8x10 this week and see what it does. I have to make a lens board that will fit it.
