Alfred Eisenstaedt

I have heard the name, of course, for many years.
I have just one of his books................. "Witness To Our Time", or something like that.

It is astounding, the number of People and Events he shot.
"Famous" people and events.
The guy was a one-man army, a virtual Life Magazine & New York Times Newspaper, unto himself.!

The man got around. No doubt about it.
He must have been married to a camera.......and cheated on that camera, with another camera.
An incredible career.

He was no week-end watrior, internet connoisseur, 12-films-a-year expert thaf’s for sure.

Besides, back then filmstock used to look so good. It all got downhill somewhere in the late 70’s early 80’s.

Many years ago I had the pleasure of entertaining Eisenstaedt for a day when he had an exhibition at the University of Miami. He was very very interesting, humble and fun to be with. He interacted with my then young children. I will always remember that experience. He even collected some small air plants from my back yard and I took him to a garden shop to get some solution for a problem he was having with a houseplant. The picture was taken at dinner. That's me with the beard I no longer have, my wife (who I still have ) a friend and Eisenstaedt.
