Alan Ross—master printer and a superb photographer—is teaching his two 4-day, intensive, hands-on (ie. everyone has an enlarger) workshops in Dublin in Ireland this summer in July. I have posted about them on the (there was a url link here which no longer exists), and I apologise that I am only posting in the correct place today. We have 2 spaces left on each of the two workshops, so if you were thinking of it, please book your place soon: each group is limited to 8 attendees only, and the early bird price is valid till 15 May.

We have many folks attending from Ireland, and there are photographers travelling from further: from UK, and Continental Europe, even a chap from California! It should be a good learning opportunity and a chance to meet others who share this passion.

You can read about it and book your place on Alan's site: http://www.alanrossphotography.com/workshops/location-workshops/dublin-ireland/

You can also read more about it on The Darkroom site, where the workshops will take place: http://darkroom.ie/courses/masterclasses/master-black-and-white-printing-workshop in central Dublin.

If you have any questions, I would be glad to answer, post here or PM me. While I am helping Alan with the workshops, I have no financial interest in them, but I have a lot of interest in making sure that his, and his famous ex-boss's skills get passed on to as many of us as possible. Learning from Alan and from John Sexton had a tremendous effect on my own photography.

Tip: if you are thinking of travelling to Ireland, July is a really nice month. Daytime temperature is warm (even hot from an Irish perspective) photographic standard of 20C (68F), sun sets around 11pm and rises only a few hours later. Because the sky is almost never clear of some kind of a cloud you get good opportunities to photograph. It should rain only a little (but no guarantees). Some of the attendees have good knowledge of the places to go and would be happy to make suggestions, if you had time before or after the workshop.

I wanted to let you know that we have been fully subscribed for both of Alan's workshops. All of Alan's spare time, while he is in Ireland, has also been reserved for one-to-one requests. If you would like us to arrange another workshop, perhaps next year, please get in touch with me and I will start an informal list—I would love to bring Alan back, perhaps also for a field workshop. Thanks for your PMs and emails.

Rafal Lukawiecki,

This is such great news! I couldn't attend this year, though my Irish wife says "sure" for next time...

But I'll make some prints in July so I can be with you in spirit.
