Hello All,

I've found these two unmasked Agfa negatives in a collection of stuff. Initially I thought I might have very early Ilfacolor but looking through the light leak reveals Agfacolor:

Agfa#2.jpg

Can anyone help identify the film? The 'L' is the intriguing part. Looking at the excellent photo memorabilia site for early Agfa Color (here) the 'L' indiciates that the film was produced in Leverkusen which makes it pre-1956. However, that is for negatives with LNT on the rebate, not L alone. Another option is that this is later CN17. But that shouldn't have the 'L' on the rebate.

Any idea?

Kodak sold "S" and "L" versions of Ektacolor professional films. One for shorter exposures, S, 1/10 s or faster, L for longer. Helped to deal reciprocity and color shift.

I recall buying Fresh Agfa film in the 1970s with AGFA L (whatever) the east German plants wouldhave used AGFA W, But agreed to switch to using ORWO as VEB AGFA was only allowed to sell using that name on there own side of the Iron Curtain.
