Agfa/ Orwo 8 developer

Does anyone have any ideas as to dilutions/ development times for the Agfa 8 formula?
AFAIK the formula goes as follows for 1 litre stock solution:
Sodium Sulphite - 12.5g
Glycin - 2g
Potassium Carbonate - 25g

I think it was Tom Hoskinson who mentioned this developer recently and I am intrigued as to what its properties are.

Lachlan, this is my second attempt to reply - the first attempt seems to have ended up in the Apug "Bit Bucket"

I did mix up some Agfa 8 last summer. I developed Kodak TMY, Efke 25 and Efke 100 in it with good results (similar to Rodinal, with very smooth tonality).

Agfa 8 is reputed to have excellent shelf life. I'll check it tomorrow morning and see if it's still alive. Agfa 8 is supposed to be a good stand developer - I have not tried it in that mode yet.

Lachlan, according to Developing by Jacobson & Jacobson,18th edition (revised) page 196, 4 Glycin developers are listed.

One of them is AG8, your chemical list is the same as in the book.

The developer is used undiluted.

Developing times are listed as:- 10 - 12 minutes @ 20ºC

The important charactistic of Glycin developers: Slow and clean working, giving low contrast and has good keeping properties.

I had a pen friend around 30 years ago who used a Glycin developer. Some of the prints he sent to me, of high contrast scenes on FP4, were really well handled. Mind you his technique would have been honed over time.

I seem to remember it called a high ph metol.
If so it might go 1:3. Allow 1/2 liter per roll.
Quite a different formula than D-78. Dan
