Hello to all. New to forum, first post.
I have recently had occasion to resurrect my darkroom after 15 years. Here is my problem:
- prints on multicontrast papers are washed out greyish/flat looking.
Although I get a fairly decent print. I have experimented with different filtration for contrast. Contrast changes but the print still looks a washed grey.
The paper is old stock that I have had for a number of years, but I also printed with Brovira-speed 310 RC, ( same vintage ) and the results are quite good.
I am using a Besler 67c enlarger and Ilford multigrade developer.
So my questions - Has the paper gone bad? Does it react differently to a safe light?
This is the first time I have used multicontrast papers, so I'm at a loss.
Any help and comment would be appreciated.
Regards
Detlef

Welcome to APUG.

Most likely your paper has deteriorated. That being said, it could also be suffering from safelight fog. Each different paper responds differently to safelight.

I would recommend doing a safelight test. One of the regular posters here on APUG is Ralph Lambrecht, one of the co-authors of the text "Way Beyond Monochrome". That text includes a good safelight test, which is reproduced on the book's website. I'm sure he won't mind if I post a link .
