Circa 1955 Agfa Karat IV 35mm rangefinder camera. Prontor shutter with speeds from 1 sec to 1/300th sec. Shutter sounds fine, consistent, not dragging. The rangefinder "spot" is about the brightest I've seen. The f2.8 50mm Solinar is Agfa's version of the Zeiss Tessar. the lens is clean. The only mark I see on the camera is a teeny tiny bit of paint loss on the inner edge of the metal lens surround ("bezel"), and that could be retouched easily.
Agra Karats were made beginning in the mid 1930s. The IV was the final and most refined model. The Karat is pretty much aimed at the same market as the Kodak Retina, and the Model IV is comparable to the Kodak Retina IIa. the lens collapses back against the body of the camera for storage and would be a good coat pocket camera.
A collection of 24 Karats would be....solid gold!
Nice specimen. $45 shipped within the USA. Please reply by PM.
