Someone has given me a 35mm roll of Agfa Isopan 125ASA, from the 'mid 1980s'.

That's all I know about it.

I don't develop my own film, so I'm pretty much going to have to do my best at the camera end of things. Any tips?

Thanks

Good advice. You have no way of knowing how it has been stored, and even in ideal storage conditions, it's still 35 years past the expiration date!

Don't sell it...shoot and send it over to thedarkroom.com the boys there will be able to process it no worries for you!

Rule of thumb. 1 stop speed loss for every 10 years, so if it's 125 ASA in the 80's, 64 ASA in the 90's, 32 ASA in the 2000's so 12 ASA sounds right for 2010... However I've found that past the 30 year mark the speed loss slows down itself (the oldest I've done is 1947 shot and dev'd in 2013) so I would suggest shooting an EI 32 in the sun(or with flash), and EI 12 in the shade. And develop as normal (hopefully the lab will be able to pull up times for the film).

Thanks for that.

I'm going to shoot it, as that's what it's for.

We'll see what happens.

Well, I finally shot the film (at 25 ISO) and got the film developed. Loads of fog and very dark negs. I'll post up some pics, if I can get a half decent scan out of any of them.

The box seems to say Jan 83 on it, embossed (although there are some digits before that). I'm guessing that's that date?

I've done a fair bit of post-processing on this, including upping the contrast at the end, to get some definition in the image.

Probably as good as I have managed to get. I think the inner part of the film survived better.

There was a time when Agfa (and other manufacturers) did not explan that date on the box.

In the late 70s Agfa started to explain it on the box as "process before" date.

That's about 20 years earlier than the Isopan, so pretty good that you managed to get any image out of it.

Just reviewed some again, came out better than I remembered actually :
