Agfa Infrared 400S film in an M6?

Hi,

I want to try IR photography for the first time, and need a bit of help...

I've got Agfa Infrared 400S film and a 720 filter. Do I just set the ISO to 400 and let the TTL meter take care of it, or do I need rate the film differently?

I know the focus is different than visible light, but I figure stopping down a bit will compensate for the difference?

Are you talking about the ASP 400S? AFAIR it is the same as Rollei Infrared 400.
For the first shot with a new setup I would apply _very_ generous bracketing. Start with metering though the filter at 400 ASA and bracket from -5 to +5 or so with a sunlit scene.

Forget the Meter

At least for the first time, you will probably get better results following the film instructions for the filter you have, bracket about 2 stops, all the while making notes of the exposures and meter setup. Then select the best image and set the camera to the ISO that provides the same exposure under the same conditions. No camera meter is intentionally sensitive to infrared, but you can use this method to provide a good approximation of the best ISO setting for your M6.
