Hello fellow film users

i bought a box of ols darkroom odds and ends, which included a box of this developer....
Out of curiousity (as I've never heard of it) I did a Google search, nothing useful came up.
I did a search here on APUG which also came up with nothing.

Now my question is, what or why was this called "special"?
Was it a "special" formulation of another developer?
Was it meant for a "special" kind of paper?
Was it just a marketing thing?

I am thinking the last one, but I might be wrong.

Anybody that knows, please feel free to share

You'd need to look in 1960's Agfa literature. Every company made special developers for a variet of uses many of which disappeared many years ago.

Conclusion

It was a bit of a struggle to find any info online....but I've managed to source the leaflet that came along with the developer.

Special additional agents are used to allow chemicals to be dissolved in ordinary tap water without causing cloudiness due to lime. Other additions prevent fogging occurring in cases of warm or forced developing. Even stale papers may be developed in Duotol without fogging.
