Someone - pretending to know the details of it - told me last saturday that the AGFA Belgium plant produces the Ilford paper rolls.

I was very surprised hearing his statement.

Anyone has the knowledge to confirm this? Simon?

I am sorry to tell you I once heard the inverse statement, that (for a certain period of time in the past, must have been in the late 80's or early 90's) Ilford was producing Multigrade paper for Agfa... Then Agfa started producing it again themselves (and a few years later, they stopped again, this time for good  )...

Argus,

I did not even know that they were coating paper at all in Mortsel.

After the production stop in Leverkusen (AgfaPhoto) their aero department changed the codes for their papers, which made me guess that they had got a new outside supply. Might have been a wrong conclusion...

The Mortsel plant remains enigmatic to me. You can stroll around its fences (quite some walks) climb on their rooftops but still won't know what they are actually doing in detail...

Dear Geert,

I'd be astonished if this were true.

Ilford has surplus capacity: why sub-contract?

This is quite apart from several factory visits and personal acquaintance with many Ilford personnel, including directors.

I won't say it's impossible, just that I don't believe it.

Cheers,

R.

Thanks for the replies. I even had a PM from Simon stating this is not true.

Tells a lot about the credibility of someone pretending to know it all!

All the things told about agfa are very enigmatic. You can even find a french site where they say that agfa films production was relaunched. That's clearly wrong, but it's the website of people who sell agfa chemicals for minilabs.
