Are you interested in that film?

Yes and No. I've been informed by two sources, one in Europe, and one well-connected to Europe, that Agfa last cut sheet film in 2001, so irrespective of the date on the box it is already 4+ years old. I would welcome comments from any European APUGers who may have first hand knowledge of this.

The landfill comment comes from Kerry Thalmann's thread on the (near) fate of Docter optics lenses during their bankruptcy.

I emailed AgfaPhoto last week offering to buy one set of 52 boxes and have it picked up by FedEx on my account at their location, and that I would use FedEx as the customs broker (thus relieving them of any administrative burden) but received no reply. Joining the Ilford ULF pre-order program may be my best choice, even though I'll have to learn a new film.

I can get the film for you. It was made in 2003 and expires 2008. Should be good for years after that when frozen. Have you ever heard of someone whose ASA 100 b/w film was bad? Perhaps after 40 years. The expiry date is valid for room temperature, and even then there is a margin of safety.

I have bought other items from Agfa and they are not shipped yet so I could get your film in one shipment at no extra cost. Let me know. I also have other (cheaper) shipping options to USA than Fedex.

I can also get smaller amounts of it, but at a higher price per box. Stock up if you need this product.

Petzi,

That is a very kind offer, and much appreciated. But I've decided to use up what APX I have now and then learn a new film, most likely Ilford. (I've experimented with cut down Acros 8x10, the resulting negatives are superb, but the cost is outrageous.)

TBH, I think it would be better to move on to somthing else, you will run out eventually, plus its probably better to keep somone else in buisiness.

I have a source for Scala, 135-36 and 120.

Moving on to something else does not help any other manufacturer because someone else is going to use the remaining Agfa product then and not that other manufacturer's product.

I bought a couple of boxes of APX100 in 13x18cm from Nordfoto last year, and it's just fine. The 13x18 was almost an "afterthought", since what I was after was 6.5xcm

I might have bought a case on ebay, if only the seller would agree to international shipping. Since they won't, I can't.

Or maybe I should drive down in my car?

There is. 13x18 film won't fit in a 5x7" holder - most of the time. And 5x7" film will drop out of a 13x18 holder - some of the time. But the holders are the same external size.

To confuse matters even more, the nominal size of 13x18cm film is almost exactly 5" by 7". 5x7" film is a few mm smaller. All that comes from the transition from glass plates to sheet film, where the film size was shrunk a little to allow for film adapters used in plate holders.

I have holders in both sizes, and use film in both sizes. As well as "cut sheet adapters" in both sizes in 13x18 plate holders...

Just curiosity. How much did the 13x18 APX100 film go for and in what quantities? Is any still available?

I checked this posting rather late. Is that film still available, in what quantities and for how much? Even if it has already sold I am curious as to how much it sold for.

I seem to recall when I first posted about it that they had only a Buy it Now price; no auction. Don't know if it sold, but the liquidators are running auctions now for 100 roll boxes.

If you're out of Europe I don't think you can bid...and I'm interested in a bit of this film. NOT a lot, mind you...perhaps 20 rolls on the outside. If someone gets a box and can spare it, I'd love it if you'd be able to send some to me. I've spent my quota for the month for photographic supplies, but if I sell some things I may be able to afford more film. Would $50 plus shipping be about what 20 rolls of 35mm would be? I'm not sure of the Euro to dollar conversion.

You mean the 13x18cm APX 100? They sold 1300 sheets for 1079 EUR incl. 16% VAT. Do you want that much film?

I don't need that much film but was thinking of buying 300-400 sheets of the APX100 in 13x18.
