Can anyone identify what this Agfa tin container might have contained? I don't have physical possession of this item and don't know the dimensions. It is in a local auction...

I see it for the first time. The spelling shows it was intended for foreign us (English or French). As there is no hint at a certain product I assume it contained some giveaway. Though I always thought giveaways were something of later periods. But the box may originate from a foreign sales office.

Well, ... I searched for those boxes and they seem to have been made only recently (early 90s). 13 x 8,5 x 6,5 cm.
A whole range with varying motives and years going back to 1906.

Height of the box is too big for for type 135 containers. But maybe Agfa just bought standard boxes from a manufacturer:

Maybe Agfa was not even involved....

Agfa sold film in similar tin boxes even in the 90s, as a special ediotion item, obviously. I have such tin box purchased in the early 1990 in Germany, containing 9 Agfachrome Precisa films, mine looks exactly like this one: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/blechdose-agfa-bild-1906/308360785-234-7246
I still have the box somewhere.

p.s. I see AgX already replied and also stated measurments of the box which suggest the number of the film the box contained could not be 9 as I wrote above...

Thank you for the responses, everyone! I have since communicated with the seller who stated he purchased the tin in England in the 1970's, so it's probably just a promotional tin with a nostalgic theme.

I must admit, I do like the one with the flapper girl and the car!

I found mine:

I cannot figure out have many films were in there originally...

And there is a price sticker: 39.90 DM - I figure it must have been a birthday gift from my father.

Strange that this is the first time I learn about these.

First time too I read this term.
