Hi guys!

I'm developing my 135 mm films using a hypoclearing from Kodak (2 minutes) and then water (30 mints) and finally AG Stab from Agfa for 1 minute. Then I put my films drying.

I'm making a mistake putting the films in hypoclearing and then AG Stab?

Another question:
I do make the dilution of X-tol developer from Kodak with water to make the stock solution. Do I need to wait 24 hours from the time I made the mix of the stock solution, from the time I use that mix to develop films?

Thank you very much.

Putting your film through a hypoclearing bath is fine. It cuts down on wash times considerably. Not sure what AG Stab is though...
When I used Xtol, I always let it sit in storage bottle for a day to give it time to stabilize.

Using AG Stab as your final step is fine but washing for 30 minutes is very excessive, especially so if a hypo clearing agent is used.

Thank you thefizz.

So how long should I wash my negatives if I use hypo clearing?

I can use both AG Stab and hypo clearing?

I'm not so organised to mix up Xtol a day in advance so I always use some of it to process some films straight away. I use it 1:1 and throw it away. Not noticed any difference between films developed in freshly made Xtol or those developed in Xtol a few days old. I use distilled water to mix up the Xtol.

I have never used hypo clear and I use the Ilford archival washing technique as I have a water meter and I don't like wasting water. I am not convinced that hypo clear is necessary for film if it is properly washed.

I have some AG Stab (formerly Sistan) but have not used it on film. I have negatives from decades ago that are absolutely fine in protective sleeves so I see no need to use AG Stab. I have used AG Stab on prints that are for display in less than ideal conditions.

I use a similar product to Ag Stab (a silver stabilizer) but only on prints, as they are much more exposed to the air. My film goes in acid free sleeves and are pretty much protected that way.
According to the instructions, it is applied as a final bath for about one minute. The print is then placed on a flat surface and the surplus is squeegeed off with a rubber blade. Drops of this product remaining on the print can result in white stains. I suppose the same goes for film but I personally do not wish to run a rubber blade over the emulsion.

10 minutes is plenty even without using a hypo clearing agent.

I use AG Stab on film and prints but never wipe it off. Just hang and drip dry, works every time.
