Apparently, it is not just the lens, but a whole 4x5 fixed-lens camera. It is a cool setup. I may steal the idea for my 1850 Voigtlander lens.

These come up fairly often as lens only - a couple in the last week in fact. I've been trying the "you don't need it and won't use it" line a lot lately, with varying amounts of success.

Interesting - I thought this only barely covered 4x5?

The 178/2.5 covers 5x5. That one covers 9x9. That's from the front of the lens, they may cover more if you stop them down.
I've just managed to put together a 178mm aero ektar and a speed graphic for about $250 total. Haven't even taken photos with it yet.

You should try this lens, it's wonderful. I also just bought one and mounted it on a 4x5" Crown Graphic. Because there is no focal plane shutter in the CG, I am using a simple large shutter in front of the lens. According to my first test it looks OK.
