The service manuals for the Minolta 7000 AF and 9000 AF use these abbreviations/technical terms, among others.

Does anyone know what they mean exactly?
  • AE
  • Strobo level
  • SS adapter
  • EE tester
  • MZ checking
  • Pitch adjusting
  • Yaw adjusting
  • EZ adjusting

The answer for all the above questions can be found in the operation manual for the Minolta 7000 and 9000 which you can download from https://www.butkus.org/chinon/ at no cost, but if you find the downloaded manuals then please donate $3US each to support his free service.

You mean I can find explanations for these technical terms in the user manuals? Unfortunately, there's nothing there. I know them, but I'll take another look.

  • Pitch adjusting
  • Yaw adjusting
Pitch, roll, yaw is the coordinate system used for boats, ship, aircraft, and spacecraft: Pitch, roll, and yaw are the three axes of movement for an aircraft. Pitch refers to the up and down movement of the nose, roll is the side-to-side tilting of the wings, and yaw is the rotation of the nose left or right around a vertical axis.

Pitch adjustment is tilting the autofous sensor from top to bottom.

Yaw adjustment is spinning the autofocus sensor on the optical axis.

The AF is therefore adjusted on three axes, which is achieved on the Minolta 7000 AF and 9000 AF using spring-loaded screws.

In the C & C Associates Troubleshooting Guide, Larry Lyells describes an alternative adjusting of the AF system that eliminates the need for Minolta's exclusive, unavailable I/O tester.

That will also be a project here.
