I love AE lock cameras.Of all the cameras I own,AE lock capability is my most cherished feature. My Mamiya 7 has it.This is why when it has to be Medium format it's my most used camera, well,Mamiya 7 and the Pentax 645n.The Hexar rf has it and I am beginning to use it more than any other 35mm rangefinder I have.My favourite of any Canon camera is the T90-AE lock AND Safety Shift. This is why I use it more than the F1.I have a few Nikons too,the FE and the F5 are favourites-both with AE lock.Finding cameras with AE lock wasn't a conscious decision,it just happened that these are the cameras that I am happiest with.Autofocus I don't have to have,in fact I prefer to do witout AF most of the time.Maybe this has something to do with age?I was born in 1968.Maybe others have a similar preference?

Well, the F1 (as other manual cameras) is a manual match-needle camera, thus less need for AE look. I agree they should have implemented AE lock, though.

I think AE lock is a good thing. And the best AE lock is the one that does not require the AE lock button to be held. That is, an AE lock that "locks", like what i had on my Canon EOS 5, or what i have on my Pentax P30.

But why have you posted this discussion in the philosophical forum? Is there something to the AE-lock aside of exposure that I failed to see?
