Title says it all, I think. I've just noticed that the winder cap---the little silver thing on the bottom plate that looks like a battery cover---is missing from my AE-1. I'm not really sure how long it's been this way.

Should I expect light leakage from the missing cap? I'm in the middle of a roll and would hate to waste the shots if they have no chance.

Thanks

No, it won't cause light leaks nor any other problem.
As I have the Winder A, but don't use it always, my AE-1 body has that cap permanently removed and stored in the clip the winder has for that purpose. Never had a problem.

I didn't realized that, thanks for the tidbit!

Jeff
If you buy one "Unseen" mail order from ebay or elsewhere Jeff especially if it is fitted with the motor drive, but even if it Isn't you need to ensure all the covers on the base of the camera are available with it, because without the cover the camera isn't light tight.

I've just checked my F1 manual, It's actually the rewind cover that if removed will expose the film, but Canon recomend all three covers on the bass be left on if the motor drive is not fitted.
