Advice on strap for Rolleicord IV

Just had my father's Rolleicord IV rebuilt and I'm looking for advice on a strap to put on it without a lot of doodads, clips and stuff. This one has the small slots on the sides of the camera that the case clips would have slid down into.

Any solutions out there one can easily find?

I use the thin black straps. They fit right through the slots you are talking about.

Thanks CJ I wonder where I can find them. Our local shop has only thick 1970 massive straps. I did not find anything like that on Adorama or B&H.

the straps normally came with the super cheap cameras of the early days. Older cheap nikons came with them.

Look for the straps with nylon webbing for the attachment points to the camera (should thread through the slots on the camera) and with a wider neoprene portion that goes around your neck. I've seen various brands with this type of design. The neoprene works well as a shock absorber. Granted, a Rolleicord isn't as heavy as a Rolleiflex, but these are nice for any medium format camera. Not too expensive, either.

I'm pretty sure the 1" Domke strap is what I have and it works fine (not the swivel model).

Agreed. I use the strap from a Canon EOS 600 series for my Rolleicord. The small rubber shoulder patch helps reduce slipping. Send me a PM, I bet I have an extra you can have for the cost of shipping.

Try a shoe repair shop. Our's had a catalog showing genuine leather straps available, about 1/2 inch wide like the original broken strap that was on my Rolleicord IV. They ordered it in for me. You can then punch a hole in it with a paper hole punch.

These are great ideas. I have it on a tripod now and will transport in a bag and hope to find an old half case from a 1967 Nikon F I used to have. Something tells me I still have the case in the attic and it will cool down today and tomorrow so an attic search might be possible without passing out in the heat.

I will aslo be near a shoe repair place too. They are getting hard to find, and I will see about showing them the camera and what they think. When I was in college I used to make my own straps in their leather crafts shop. That was nice.

Two more for the mix....Gordy's Straps....nice and simple...and simple narrow nylon webbing. I've made a number of straps for rangefinders from climbing webbing and a sewing machine. I'm sure the local shoe repair guy can help you out also.
