Advice for solution to clean an old jobo

Gor a good price jobo. Needs a little cleaning. Also happy to bring it back to live.
Any advice what to use for the plastic and what can I use to cleat the heating reotans element?
Does Jobo sale the plastic tub only? And other parts i might need? EMailing them.

You will have to see what works to clean that.

After I cleaned mine about 8 years ago, I now use a turkey baster to get all the water out after use and the inside still looks like new.

Assuming that's lime scale from hard water (or a combination of that and rust), I'd start with Coca Cola.

Seriously; it's got enough phosphoric acid in it to dissolve lime scale and (mostly) remove rust. Diet Coke also works, AFAIK. Pour in enough to cover the scaled/rusted parts, wait 24 hours, and check. Add more Coke if needed, keep checking daily until what's left will come off with a bronze or stainless wire brush.

Most other brands of cola won't work, BTW -- Royal Crown might, but Pepsi and most generics will not. They use citric acid instead of phosphoric, and that won't attack the rust the same way.

I was hoping for a dedicated cleaner. Last thing I want is sticky sugar residue inside scratches and cracks.

How do you clean the lift? Is there a cleaning manual anywhere?

Sugar dissolves easily with warm water, and Diet Coke has none. However, I see in another post that Jobo recommends citric acid -- odorless stop bath to the rescue!

Sulfamic acid is used to clean scale from coffee machine boilers and from dentures. I understand that it is less aggressive than phosphoric acid but that would of course depend on the concentration. It's sold as a powder which dissolves in water.

Jobo made a product 30 years ago. Had sulfamic acid as one ingredient. I wouldn't risk damaging the machine with strong chemicals.

I picked up a "parts only" CPP2 many years back. I used a little vinegar and a green Scotch Brite pad. I even disassembled the lift, cleaned and re-sealed. Still running.

Whenever I use my Jobo, I clean, pickup the entire unit and invert it to get all the water out. Then every exposed surface gets dried with old t-shirt rags.

It's like having a fancy boat, you spend time cleaning up after the excursion

Dilution isn't critical. Neither is the time. Start with something like 1% and hot water; if the thermostat works, you could even run that to keep it warm. Come back after half an hour and use a brush to wipe off the walls, heating element etc. Drain and inspect, rinse and repeat as necessary.

Citric acid, acetic acid, sulfamic acid etc etc will all work. I usually use citric or acetic since they're cheap and easily available. The Coca Cola trick works well, too, and yes, it does work with any brand of cola since any acid will work.

Don't overthink this; it's a straightforward job, just get started and get it over with. Easy.

I clean mine with vinegar. Pour it in let sit over night and rinse in the morning. I have real hard water, so hard it rattles in the glass. I also use a little bit (3-5cc) of jet dry in the water bath. Just don't take the wife's vinegar or the jet dry from the kitchen! Don't ask me how I know.

I received a reply from Omer Hecht from Catlabs says "1 cup of citric acid" for the 4.5 gallon tempering bath of the Jobo ATL 2200 will do the same thing as a treatment with Processor Cleaner II.

Barkeeper's Friend. I have used it on a Q-Tip to remove corrosive battery leakage from devices, to restore it to full operating condition. So it is good for cleaning up those heating rods. It has oxalic acid content, which addresses the scale buildup too.
