Hi guy's,

I have a Praktica Nova PL 1B that had some light leaking problems. After I fixed It became once again my go everywhere camera when space is not an issue.
My only trouble I'm getting is how the advance lever is thin for me. After shooting a while, somehow, my fingers start to trouble with the lever..

So I was wondering, before going with a final solution of adding rubber around it or something like that, I was wondering if it's possible to switch easily advance levers with other cameras or it's only possible to do with the same Praktica Nova series cameras (i recall there is a model in which the lever is really thick).

Thank you

From looking at photos it seems to me all Novas and PLs have got the same lever. A design change only took place with the introduction of the L series.

Well, that's weird. Now that I've looked better on Mike's collection, all of them are thick and even have a black thing. Why Is mine different...

A bit of well-placed and well-cut duct tape can work wonders in getting the fingers padded and comfortable. Gaffer tape, expensive, is even better. - David Lyga

The Novo/PL lever is a metal one with plastic part fixed to it at its underside. Likely yours lost that plastic part.

Ahh darn it... now I have to buy a new camera to get this part...

The Nova series are mostly the only ones that I can change the lever with, right?

In your case I rather would cut a piece of ABS or PS plastic into size and shape and expoxy-glue it to that lever.
As you are sensitive to thin levers by this you can achieve the perfect shape.

I think the plastic part of the advance lever is held in place by a screw or a rivet. I wonder if you could replace it by a piece of hard wood ?
