After a few months of interrupted supply we are happy to anounce that our RA-4 Monobath Kit is back on the shelves.
The kit has only two bottles (monoconcentrates). One is the RA-4 developer and the other is the Bleachfix.
You simply dilute each liquid 1+4 (1:5) and get going.
The developing temperature is 35°C. This is NOT a room temperature kit.
Due to the consolidation of manufactureres we had been unable to provide this kit over the past months.

We are aware that bringing back something which has existed before is not strictly something new but here the manufacturing depth has substantually increased so we did face a lot of R&D and the new product shall be a more reliable offer than the old one was.

500ml each to make 2.500ml´s. Capacity about 2 sqm per liter of WS.

Not entirely. The old Kit was produced for us ready mixed and we only bottled it.
Now we are sourcing premixes and make the final product in our kettle, then we bottle it straight from the kettle.
We are using internal Know How developed over the past months to make a monobath out of regular two bath components.
We are not mixing color chemistry from the powders at this point because the price for the mixings is lower than the added up costs of the raw ingredients.
ADOX learned a lot and we also had to build up internal QC for RA-4. This was not necessary before because we received QC´ed components.
As I said this is not mankind landing on the moon but we are progressing step by step. Things like this bring us closer to being capable of doing it fast when there is need to it.

Thank you. This again shows how critical even secondary products (to film) have to be calculated beetween making self and various degrees of outsourcing.

Sounds good and at least as far as ADOX is able, it seems it is owning as much of the quality of the product as is possible.

This looks great.
One comment though about the thread title.
My experience with "monobaths" is limited, and purely black and white.
But I've only seen "monobath" used in reference to development processes that use a single (mono) solution.
Yours uses two!

I think Adox means in the sense of single concentrates for dev & blix rather than an
A+B+C mix for the developer & an A+B for the blix.

I'm sure you are right.
But I think that "monobath" implies something more.

My RA4 blix is separate fixer and bleach that you mix the two parts to get blix. You guys are correct, when I first read this I thought, OMG, a monobath all in one bottle developer, blix and stabilizer.
How did Edwin Land and crew invent Polacolor? Lost and gone forever.

Developer and blix in single concentrates are common in minilab RA-4 chemistry. They are replenishers undiluted, the work solution need water and a starter. They have better stability than standard chemistry because they are usually designed for high volumen scenarios with limited replenishment.

We have always called it Monokoncentrates for years. You are right. Monobath´s are now popular again and something different. I´ll try to get the title changed ;-)

The main difference here is that you do not need the two starters. Just mix with water. It was not easy to get starter concentrate added to a higly centrated solution in a stable way and make both mixes 1+4. The main point here is ease of use and cost savings in packaging so the price for the entire kit stays reasonable. With minilab chems you buy larger units and the cost for the bottle and the filling vanishes. But for a small amateur kit this has impact.

Well done on all this Adox, although I am not a customer of this product, as I only do B/W.

Could you edit the title though please? I ask as I immediately assumed that it was for B/W use, as that is where the terminology mono-bath is usually used.

There were recently three new monobath developers released to the market.
We have one of them (Cinestill DF96) and ist is selling well. The beginner- friendlyness does the trick. You have "half of Ansel Adams" built in the developer (..develop to the lights...).
We have had plans for years to release one as well but we are still looking for better accutance.
