Anyone know what’s up with Adox currently? Freestyle is out of stock of most Adox products it seems and some stuff I recall being on the website has been removed. For example, been waiting for MCC paper for years now and its not even listed anymore. Also, the FX-39 I discovered I really liked a year or so ago and used up has seen the in-stock date be continually pushed out.

I don't think Adox is planning on coating paper in the near term. There's plenty of Ilford and Foma papers and people don't print.

I think Freestyle is not stocking as much Adox chemistry.

Most ADOX products aren't out of stock anywhere except at Freestyle. Yes, MCC-110 hasn't been produced in several years, but that's a decision Mirko made based on market prices. For other things ADOX, go to

and order directly. Although not inexpensive, shipping to our area is now fast and reliable. I find it best to wait until there are a number of items needed, thereby lowering delivery cost per item.

Perhaps Freestyle is waiting for its "ship to come in".
There is a good chance that ADOX product is shipped to Freestyle using containers on ships.

Many Adox products are in stock at BH and some products are in stock at Glass Key. If you're looking for liquid chemistry, however, neither will ship them - those products are available for local pickup only.

Shipping is still screwed up. I can't justify flying Rodinal from Germany to Iowa. I buy from Freestyle for most of my liquid chemistry, shipping is very reasonable, I try to plan ahead.

That stinks about MCC if true. I seemed to recall reading on their website that they were planning a new coating but it’s been crickets since.

BH has a very limited range of 7 Adox Chemical products in stock. That’s not much at all either and is pretty similar to Freestyle’s currently limited offering.

Aside from Freestyle, where in the USA or Canada can Adox FX-37 be found? Both B&H and Adorama have discontinued it.

Mark

Above, when I wrote FX-37, I meant FX-39. Aaargh.

Any Internet-connected device in the U.S., including the one you're posting from, can get you ADOX FX-39 II:

although you then may have to deal with transoceanic shipping, and surprise clearance fees.

Mark lives in Escondido, California, so there will be no surprise clearance fees. As for shipping, yes, it's not cheap, but if one wants/needs several items from FOTOIMPEX, it's not exorbitant, especially if the things one seeks are unavailable from resellers physically in the U.S.

Unless California has sudenly become part of the EU, I was thinking of the sneaky fees that various courier companies sometimes tack on when they collect duty and sales tax when shipments cross the Border. Living in Canada, and finding many suppliers located in the US, this is always an issue I have had to live with. even if their is no taxes due, I have had to pay the courier 30 or 40 dollars in some cases just to get the shipment "cleared"

It doesn’t make sense to pay $40 to ship a $10 bottle of developer so I’ll simply wait for now and use the Rodinal and 1027 I have available to me. Fotoimpex has some decent prices on other items though, so the cost over Freestyle’s least expensive option (about $22) may be a wash once there’s some additional things I need or could use from them.

I’ve yet to pay fees to a courier here in the US and I have purchased many items/collectibles from outside the US, mainly from the UK and Japan.

I'm in the county adjacent to where Mark lives. My orders from FOTOIMPEX are now shipped via DHL's express service. There have never been any fees added by DHL, nor has import duty ever been collected. The situation in Canada might be very different, which is why I noted Mark's place of residence.

@Sal Santamaura , thanks for mentioning that. This is good to know.

BTW, I grew up by the border of San Clemente in a small area called Capistrano Beach, and attended San Clemente High School and Dana Hills High when it opened. It's a 50-minute drive from Escondido to San Clemente.

You're most welcome.

At the risk of bringing down moderator wrath by perpetuating off-topic conversation, for the first 15 years after moving to California in 1978, we lived in a townhouse right on the San Clemente / Capistrano Beach border. My commute to work at various aerospace companies in northern Orange and southern Los Angeles counties for quite a while included car pooling with someone from Escondido, who made my typically 100-mile round trip segments seem like a short drive. By the way, in case you haven't kept up, Capistrano Beach is now part of incorporated Dana Point.

I found Fedex and Canada Post add reasonable $10 fees for import processing on top of import taxes (Canada Post slips often through without any fees though), but UPS and DHL add fees based on shipment value. Last time I went instead to the customs office by myself to pay importation ("self-clearance"), luckily the office is in Montreal's old port and on my daily bike commute. Saved me $90 of processing fees to UPS. So if you have a CBSA inland office nearby, it might make sense to visit them, took me 5min.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from Fotoimpex Tuesday evening US CDT. Wednesday 1 PM CET, goods were picked up by DHL, I received today Friday afternoon in Iowa USA. Excellent service, got exactly what I wanted, including nice fresh FX39 II. I wish I had a store like this I could walk to.

I plan on buying more from Fotoimpex:smile:
