I purchased a 50 sheet box of 11x14 MCC 110 V last year and have tested it twice only to find a range of ES from 1.39 to 1.93. It is a real mystery to me how it can be so "flat". After the first test i couldn't believe the results; so after waiting about 3 months i tested again yesterday.
OSG VC and MGFB classic both give me a full range from grades 0 - 5.
Developer is Dektol 1+2.
Has any one else had similar results?
At least i can use the same negatives for this and new cyanotypes.
3 - 4 years ago there were some problems with the MCC 110 not reaching the higher contrast grades. According to Mirko Boeddecker at ADOX it depended on the hardening of the paper. That was changed and since at least 3 years the paper has been top quality. I use it regularly and I am very satisfied with the results. Unless you have gotten an old box stored under poor conditions it sounds like a mystery.
You have a batch code on the box that also lets you determine year and month of production. You could also post your concerns in the (there was a url link here which no longer exists), Mirko is normally very responsive when such questions arise.
Many thanks. The data for this box (emulsion: 300-3 2 PD 5-12)which seems to be from around the time that Karl mentioned. I have written the vendor that sold the paper with the test results and information off the box; will also post any reply that may come from them.
I will also send a message to Adox.
