Adox MC 110, Your Thoughts and Experiences...

Thanks Sal. That is one developer that I have never used, despite all of the great reviews. When I purchased the Zonal Pro, I was debating between that and the Print WA, but went with what I know. I'll pick up the Print WA before my next opportunity to get into the darkroom.

You cannot go wrong with this paper. If it's not working with a particular negative, use another standby, but in general it's an excellent paper.

dmax problem

I recently had to return four boxes of this paper because it was only producing a dmax of 2.13. Anyone else have this problem?

"Only?" "Problem?" The data sheet

specifies ADOTOL NE (same as Agfa Neutol NE) as the developer used to obtain its characteristic curves, which top out at 2.3. Which developer did you use? Has Adox analyzed your paper and responded to your complaint yet? Note that even Azo

didn't hit much above 1.9 without toning, and its reputation for patent leather blacks is legend.

Despite owning and using a transmission densitometer for negative calibration, I've never found the need for a reflection densitometer. Prints on two different batches of MCC 110, developed in Neutol WA (Compard WA at Freestyle) have exhibited the deepest blacks I've ever obtained from any paper without selenium toning. Please let us know how it works out for you.

Anybody use Kodak graded filters? I know freestyle suggests Ilfords. I have Kodaks and if i do decide to switch paper (after i order a test sample of course) i want to know if its worth it or not to buy new graded filters. Thanks

Normally this paper gives me a dmax of 2.3, developed in Dektol. The new batch only reached 2.13. I didn't need the densitometer to see the difference - just to verify what my eyes were telling me. To be sure, I tested last year's emulsion side by side against this year's. I was able to return it without any problem but now I'm out of my favorite paper. Been trying to find out when the new emulsion is to arrive.

which warmtone developer are you using?
