Adox Lupex and Lodima: which fixer?

Hi

Needs some help in deciding which fixer to use for thise papers. I have read somewhere that a rapid fixer will "fog" Lodima paper. Any comments on this? Adox Lupex is a similar paper but I would like to use the Ilford rapid fixer rather than mixing a Kodak F-24 fixer using Sodium Thiosulfate.

The five sheets of Lupex I used (from the 'Schnupfen' pack) fixed normally in a rapid fixer.

Sounds far fetched to me. Any fixer should do.

I don't know about Lupex or Lodima, but here is some information on AZO which is also a Silver Chloride paper

As you probably know Lodima was created by Michael A Smith to take the place of AZO so I am guessing ( maybe wrongly? )
that his writings on AZO might reciprocate at least for Lodima, not so sure about Lupex, maybe it says more on the LUPEX website ?

Michael Smith suggestes plain old ( Olde Fashioned ) Sodium Thiosulfate fixer.
When I print on AZO I use Speed Fixer ( Ammonium Thiosulfate ) and have never had a problem with fogging, maybe I have been lucky?

I just mix up sodium thiosulfate and add about 15 grams sodium bisulfite..works like a charm

The issue is likely not with chloride papers but their common partner Amidol, which, for me stains the print pink with a neutral or slightly alkaline ammonium thiosulfate fixer. However, Trying to maximize the wash, I haven’t yet tried it with a more acid rapid fixer.

How do you Guys like the new contact papers?

I am particularly fond of Adox Lupex, but the contrast of that paper is hard to deal with, depending on the negative. I've used water bath with Amidol, but many times that doesn't tame it enough. The most success I've had--contrast-wise--is with AA's version of Ansco 130. However, I much prefer the print color from Amidol.

where are you sourcing the amidol..I have never had this issue with amidol and ago

The English stuff from Artcraft. 95% of the pink in Lodima and Lupex washed out, which isn’t quite satisfactory. I then used the developer with Galerie, and the pink was unsalvageable.

Hi Sverre,
you do not need a special fixer for our ADOX LUPEX contact paper. You can use your standard / regular fixer which you also use for your other papers.
