I had more or less given up trying to get my hands on Color Implosion, but I spoke to a retailer (who is currently out of stock, along with every on-line shop I've tried) and was informed they are expecting more in January.
Has Adox seen the light and potential sales from this amazing film and decided to start up production again? I hope so!
Steve - Adox Color Explosion is gone

!
So there is a question remaing now.
Why is this film not longer avaible ?
Two simple reasons :
1) it was an experimental emulsion with special characteristics - one statement from Adox : " grain like an Iso 800 film other characteristics like an Iso 100 emulsion."
(and I indeed don't want to forget to state : " total special colors ").
So there are more questions about the origin of the film ....

...hmmm???
I would like to speculate a bit here - if I am alowed - this film was produced in smal scale.
So we have the first possibility of discontinue this film : High demand !
Well - it seams like to be a paradoxum but it shall be sold out.
(don't ask why Adox don't will have a further production run - I can't say)
But before this coming to the 2. reason - it is quite simple :
This was a bad film.....

..!!!
So it is obviously not a much great lost ?
I think so - and pls. forgive me therefore.
I could easyly imagine of many people who had a real "wow" effect with this film - but after this they don't want to buy it again.
That is just from my logic - so you have seen a first highest demand after this it was just a little group who wanted this film again.
So ADOX decided against a second production run ?
And now ? What is to do - how we can live without a color implosion from Adox?
My friendly advice to you Steve is the following : make your own experiments with "wrong" colors and use simple color films. Here we discussed often how to avoid color shifts. To some experts it is a main issue with color films. Some have real problems from this - they might have
sleepless nights sometimes "broken families" - caused from color shifts in the darkroom !!!!
To reach some incorect colors (as an effect) it is much more easy than to "fight" against ......

.
So you should try first cross developement. It gives more contrast and a different color look depending from each film emulsion.
TO have "implosion" effects there is also a need of some funky cokin color filters (for example).
You may have different colors with real bad c41 developers (and incorrect workflow).
IF you underexpose your c41 films a bit you may have a little more color saturation for exampel.
You can find a mass of expired films on ebay.
IF you want to have the same expiration effect with new color films to the next years (reproducible results) you may store your simple new color films (use the cheapest ones you can find) during winter onto your heating. Notice the duration of storage (starting tests) - a couple of days should be enough to destroy the original fine characteristics.
A.s.o.

.......
So it is not "photographers armageddon"
without ADOX IMPLOSIONS - isn't it ?
