Adox CMS 20 & Pre-rinse

To anyone developing Adox CMS 20 in Adotech developer:

Do you use a pre-rinse? If so, for how long?

I do not use a pre-rinse.
The datasheet states, a pre-rinse is not necessary and leads to slightly higher contrast and slightly less sensitivity.

Thanks, Andreas. Where did you find a datasheet on this film? Also, if you don't mind my asking...since this film is developed for only about 5 mins, do you agitate small tank per classic guidelines? That is, about 20 secs when developer first poured in, followed by 2-3 inversions every 30 secs?

the datasheet is here, but it is in german. I don't know if there is an english version.

I pour in the developer and agitate until the first 30 seconds are over. Then I do 2 inversions every 30s seconds.
Due to the short development time you should use a sour stopbath, the required time for fixing is VERY short. The datasheet states, that 30 to 60 seconds are sufficient.
In the section "Haltbarkeit es Entwicklers:" a clever method to store the opened developer is described. Use 1/5, fill up with water. Next time use 1/4 and fill up again, and so on.
The delevoper concentrate is yellow, even when it is fresh. I have this from the guy who formulated the developer.

My experience is, that it is better to expose the film at 16 or even 12 ASA.

You can take this english datasheet for processing the CMS20 with adotech.
SPUR Nanospeed UR is a nearly identical developer for this film; the differences are very small and there is no difference in the datasheet.
They are mixed by the same guy...

Thanks so much for your tremendous help. I'm new to this film, though I've used Kodak Techpan on many occasions some years, ago. The agitation technique you describe is my standard technique when development times are under, say, 8 - 10 mins. With Rodinal and Pyro developers, I typically use a semi-stand technique...but, that's another story.

I'm glad you mentioned the shortened fix time because I'm sure I would have gone with something like 5 mins. The "trick" to extend the Adotech developer life is documented on Freestyle's website which are the folks I bought this film/developer from, but, again, thanks for pointing this out. I exposed my first roll today, at ISO 16, and will process tomorrow. I'm anxious to see how the negs turn out!

I will review the datasheet for SPUR Nanospeed. I think I remember reading somewhere that these formulas are nearly identical.
