I just recently started scanning some of my Adox CMS 20 II shots (35mm) and I see very fine horizontal scratches running across relatively monotone sky such as from a clear blue summer sky. They are very clear when viewed at 100% in PS and even fairly visible at 50% zoom. I never noticed these scratches when printing 8x12 prints in the darkroom.
My guess is that the light-trap velvet itself or a bit of dust/dirt in the light-trap is what's causing these scratches. Has anybody else seen this? Is this some known issue with this film? Is there any way to prevent it?
Well...I can see them in large(ish) digital prints if I darken down the tonal values of the sky. Therefore, I have to spend quite a bit of time with the spot heal tool. I'd rather they not be there, of course.
Good point. Inspect the negatives with a loupe to see if they are visible on either side. Or turn the negative 90° in the scanner and rescan - if they don't run the same way, it's the scanner; if they do, it's the film

I believe those high resolution copy type films like Copex Rapid, Bluefire Police, CMS II all scratch very easily. I haven't tried the CMS II yet but it is on the shelf. They have thin emulsions also.
