I'm thinking of having a try at using Adox CMS 20 with pyrocat or perhaps TechXactol from monochromephotography.com as an experiment. Does anyone have any experience using pyro devs with microfilm to tame the high contrast?
Since cms 20 is only available in 35mm, I have finally found a use for the panoramic adaptor I got free with my mamiya 7
That Adox film and the Agfa Copex Rapid and the Kodak Imagelink can be considered as belonging to another group of films as the Technical Pan.
From a theoretical point of view they need even more specialised developers than the TP. Thus a deduction from the results a developer yielded with TP cannot be be done towards the Adox CMS 20.
I tried Adox CMS 20 at EI 8 in PMK pyro 1:2:100 12min 70F. I got the idea here: http://www.unblinkingeye.com/Articles/Times/TechPan/techpan.html
However it did not work like tech pan but gave underexposed and overdeveloped negatives and I gave up on it owing to the lack of speed and high contrast.
Copex rapid is probably a better microfilm to try in pyro, IMO it is less contasty than CMS 20.
FWIW... A few years back, I tried some TechPan in WD2D+ and thought they must have been made for each other. It was about the time they announced its discontinuance and I decided not to invest more time in sorting it out but the low contrast nature of this developer seemed ideal for it and made for a very forgiving combination.
