I'm assuming that the Adorama VC RC Glossy is repackaged paper from another manufacturer. I love the 8.5 x 11 and it saves me a bundle. Anyone know who makes this? I only use it for contact sheets.

Actually, the paper is made 'specially for us in Europe, but due to manufacturer/vendor confidentiality agreements we aren't permitted to share that information, I'm really sorry.

I use this a lot, and really like it. The price can't be beat. The only complaint I have, is that it isn't cut square; at least the last 250 box I have. It's only a tiny bit out of square, but one has to be careful mounting and matting.

Me again; just had confirmation from the purchasing manager that we haven't come across this as a issue before. We are in contact with the factory about it but need to know your "lot number" which you should find marked on the box.

Could you email me please (referencing this post) Helen@adorama.com

thank you!

Happy New Year ???

Helen, thanks for taking the time to answer questions here on APUG. Can you give us a hint at what continent the paper comes from? Perhaps that is not violating any agreements?

If it's continental European it might well be Foma. Is anybody else in Europe making paper? Harman makes Ilford and Kentmere and coats some of the Adox papers.

Isn't the Freestyle Arista EDU stuff Foma? The Arista Private Reserve is Adox (and very nice - but not that much less expensive than the Adox brand.)

Adorama has been terrific. I'd like to ask Helen if she could pass along a request for Adorama to have made 11x14 sheet film in a slow 25 speed. I'm sure there is a market for it from alternate process users and general photography shooters as well.

Currently the most suitable film is Ilford FP4 but it is only available by special order once a year. I'm aware that HP5 is a stock item but it doesn't have the characteristics needed for processes like Carbon Transfer. If only, I mean only, Ilford FP4 could be a stock item, that would be great too.

Thank you,
Curt

I've passed a message on to the purchasing department and will come back to you asap

Our purchasing department's initial guess is that there is not enough of 11 x 14 FP4 sold worldwide to justify making more than one production run a year, but maybe we are wrong!

We need to know how many of you out there would like to see greater availability throughout the year of FP4 film in an 11” x 14” size? If you'd like to figure out a way to collect this info and then pass it back to us, we'd certainly be more than happy to pursue it for you with the manufacturers.

Helen, you might try asking on the Large Format Photography Forum. Probably a lot more likely to find 11x14 shooters over there.

I'm not able to do market research here at home. I have no idea what the minimum parameters are for it.

As I understand, Freestyle will place an order for Efke 25 in 11x14, even as a group order at least it's not once a year.

As nobody has come back to me about this, would I be correct in thinking that there isn't any great demand?

It is unlikely that anyone who hasn't already been paying attention to this thread would even know about the question - certainly not the majority of 11x14 shooters.

Curt - maybe you should start a thread in the Large Format forum?
