Adding Anti-Halation Dye to Film

I was intersted if anybody hear knew the type of dye is suitable for anti-halation on the back of film to be processed c-41 or black and white? I am going to be doing some testing applying dye to the back of film without anti-halation but would like it to be solluable in the first step.

Any knowledge or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

May be You can look at kodak aero films patents. I opened your thread after my visit to Kodak site , there are numerous Aero Films with gel anti halation coating.

But yes ideally I would like to apply it to either c-41, panchromatic black and white film or home made glass plates. The key is using a dye that would not be harful to the c-41 process. The mothod of application would obviously need to be worked out too of corse.

Your best bet would be inactivated carbon black in gelatin coated as desired and then removed before processing. This is known as Rem Jet or Removable Jet Black!

Or you can buy short cut Kodak 500 T movie Film with ram jet ready , shoot the film , remove the ramjet with soaped water and than C41 process. Search short cut in APUG.

500T is rad and looks great when hand processed or ECN-2 machine rem-jet (removed by water jet) run. I am trying to do something different. I have an idea of what possible dyes I will need to use but just wanted to get some input on here. But I can figure it out just fine if the only suggestion is not to try to add my own anti-halation onto my film and homemade plates.

Use quality fresh film , good lens , good exposure control and good developer with control and you will gain more than your ram jet.

Yes I know what it takes to make a good photograph. I also like to try new even crazy approaches to creating images. Sometimes that is expired type 55 or 669 or sometimes making something completely myself like a wet plate or using a hacke brownie lens on sheet film. It's all for the love of photography and creating images.
