I would like to attach a 7x11 back (from a Kodak 2-D) to an 8x10 Kodak Masterview camera. Any ideas for a step-up type attachment to use? Thanks in advance.

Funny you should ask.... I was recently thinking about the same thing, but came to the conclusion that the end result would be too bulky. You've got to build out the back so that the rear frame of the Master doesn't vignette. And then you have to make hardware to adapt on one side to the Master and on the other to the Kodak back. If you do decide to try, it will be interesting to see how you approach it.

I suggest giving Richard Ritter a call at 802-365-7807. He is currently building me a 4x10 back for a KMV at a very reasonable price. I would think that he could either adapt your Kodak 7x11 back to fit, or make one from scratch.

The Improved #2 which came with the elusive 7X11 back is larger than a standard 2D. I've adapted one to my Deardorff so it is do-able. I can go out and measure an original back if you need me to.

Thanks for the replies. I attempted to contact Richard Ritter and did so by phone to his ansswering machine but don't imagine he wants to pick up the tab for a call to Australia - do you know if he has an email address? Jim, thanks and yes, I'd be very interested in the structure, means and/or materials you used to make up the adapter. I'm assuming a broadening angle in the body of the adapter would allow for size increase in the 7z11 back and also eliminate vignetting. I also assume that the pins on the back that engage the tab holders on the camera would be reproduced on the camera side of the adapter plate. Simple is better and I'm without sophisticated woodworking tools so thanks in advance for your thoughts.
