So far I have not come across such. (I assume people threw them away when they mounted an adapter.)

Does any other mount rear-cap fit, maybe after cutting flanges a bit ?

Thank you both.
I am thinking of a cap that closes the rear of an Adaptall lens when the adapter is not yet mounted.

The one Macfred hinted at bayonet-wise likely might not fit as the Adaptall bayonet has got flanges of different lengths. Futhermore at some Adaptall lenses the rear group protrudes vastly beyond the bayonet, one thus needs a cap like a short tube.
Which the second sample might be.
Maybe Tamron added caps af different design, depending of lens.

It is likely a rather academic inquiry.
I was just thinking, when having different SLR systems, if one better should sort Adaptall lenses on their own and sort the adapters at the respective cameras.
Then the issue of these rear caps arises...

The one Macfred posted is the cap for the lens side of the adaptall adapter and ozphoto posted the one you are looking for.

Thank you. As said I never came such across in any rummage box.

Have one of the deep ones on my adaptall II 2x teleconverter.
I wonder if such an item could be 3D printed?
You would probably have to have a copy to measure first, but perhaps such a one off would just be too expensive.

That is why I asked whether a more common rear cap could be made to fit.

From memory, probably not, as it basically has a slightly smaller diameter extension which fits into the lens adapter area and the wider part is flush with the actual lens itself.

I searched for one of these for years and never found one; don't require now as I've sold off the extra lens, but they are as rare as hen's teeth - this seems like a fair price, so if I still needed one, I'd be jumping on the one I linked above.

Naturally YMMV.

Well, I am on the cheapish side, spoiled by rummage boxes. In case I really should need such I likely 3-D print such. (Still no public printer around anywhere...)

Thank you all for your insights.

I shall give it a try. Though in any case it ony would work with lenses with the rear group not protruding.

Find a yogurt [*] container that can be trimmed to work (helps if you can find one that has the right size lip to fit under the flanges of the mount), then be prepared to eat many servings of it before they change the packaging.

[*] or Quark or other dairy product.

As the text explains, the original, proprietary cap is huge, as were the Tamron lens caps for the various mounts too. However not all Adaptall-lenses protruded far beyond of their flanges.
Yes, maybe the design for that 3D-print need to be corrected to be universal. As soon I get that original cap in hand I shall post its resp.dimensions.

If one uses only 1 sample of adapter on severa lenses, for on the job use of course a big cap that takes all lenses in all states of the helicoid is the way to go. For storage at home without adapters shorter caps may be used when possible (short protrusion of rear element or setting the lens to close focus).
