Acufine - Cloudy and Grey?

I've been using Acufine a lot of late. I do almost everything 35mm in it. It's great! Anyway, I read that it "lasts for ever" and so, haven't been too dilligent in keeping track of how many rolls I have done in my quart. Tonight, I noticed the stuff has turned a kind of milky grey...but it still worked fine. When should I get concerned? How long does the stuff last?

Apparently it is good for 16 rolls of 35mm film, with an increase of 10% in dev time for each roll after the first four. I have stuck to that formula and got good, consistent results, despite of a build up of colour in the liquid.

Any experience with ACU-1? That's Acufine's
one-shot version. I've gotten started on a liter
and got good results at 1:11 with HP5+.

I love acufine with tri-x as well. It is great stuff. Anyhow, after several rolls it will turn a murky grey.. It's still good for a while. Do a prerinse with your film before you develop it and that will take care of the murky greyness.

I've done about 22 to 24 rolls of 120 film per liter of developer before I just toss it.
I don't replenish, although I would without hesitation if I owned one of those 5gal. tanks with a floating lid.

Could you be confusing Acufine with Diafine? Diafine is Acufine's cousin and does seem to last forever. Being a two-bath dev. helps in this regard. Diafine is also a speed increasing dev.

Attempting to overwork processing solutions is a foolish economy. Film costs more than chemicals. Whenever in doubt either test them or chuck them.

Is it a case of time independant of amount of use? I was under the impression that amount of use was the foremost determining factor, then the time after mixing - I may be wrong, so I thought I'd bring it up.
