Actual new film or rebadge ?

How does the cost of the new film compare to a regular roll of Kentmere in Japan?

I bought some the yesterday in Kyoto, the three pack (35mm-36) works out to 576 yen a roll, compared to 929 yen a roll for Kentmere 100. The single rolls are 650 each. I meant to bring the film with me to Tokyo (where I am now) but forgot, and my "local" Yodobashi (Akiba) does not have any in stock. Although I will admit I was impressed with their film and darkroom selection - much better than anything in the Kyoto/Osaka region.

Thanks for the info on the price. Now we just wait for some feedback on the results and info on development times. Hopefully information will be in the film box.

Bought a roll of the 400 speed film. It's more expensive than the 100 ISO film. I think it was 850 yen for a roll. For 900 yen I can get a roll of Tri-X or for 1050 yen I can get a roll of HP5+.
The packaging, film canister etc, look very Ilford reminiscent. Developer recommendations are mostly Ilford too with the exception of D-76. The box has a list of dev times for 400 and 800 inside, nothing listed for 1600.
I'll post results when I get to it.

ISO 100 film: ID-11 or D-76, 20degrees 9:00 minutes
ISO 400 film: ID-11 or D-76, 20degrees 14 minutes
ISO 100 1 roll 650 yen 3pack 1730 yen
ISO 400 1 roll 800 yen (tri-x 940 yen, HP5+ 1010 yen)

No magenta base like Tri-x.
It dries really flat and seems to be grainier than Tri-X.
I developed mine in Microphen 1+1 for 19mins.

It does sound like or similar to Kentmere. However the development time with ID-11 is not the same so I figure it is a new film.

I bought this at Yodobashi Shinjuku since it seemed like this was worth trying - I hadn't heard anything about it.
Reminds me a bit of HP5, actually, more than kentmere. The grain looks similar under a loupe.

You'll find a 6 digit number above or bellow the DX code and bar code.

Just a question: is that 36 exp. or 24 exp.?

As it is a new film there's no recognition of the DX code.
What I was looking for was for the manufacturer part.
In this case 88, a new number.

Well whatever it is I am glad there is something new out there that a person could shoot and enjoy. All of the pictures above look great to me. I wish we had a camera store around that had cool stuff to look at, to buy and to ponder. Just BHPhoto which is great but on the wrong ocean for me to stop in.
