Acros in pyrocat hd

Does anyone have a good starting time for acros in pyrocat hd 1:1:100? The only times I can find on the net are for rotary processing. Starting times for n+1 and n+2 for 2:2:100 would be nice too

Trying this film out this weekend. Anyone used this combination, and how does it compare to fp4+ in pyrocat? I'm going to standardise on one or the other depending on the results I get, I really need to stop trying out so many different films and settle!

Has anyone ever needed to do n-1 or n-2 development with pyrocat? So far Ive just let it compensate if there is a large brightness range.

Acros+Pyrocat

I've only used Acros in 120 film. My equivilant for 2:2:100 is 20:40:940 as I'm using the NaCarbonate mix. Acros 120/rotary/continuous/ASA 64/8:15 min.
Have used FP4 and pyrocat but only in sheet film. This is a really nice combination but not a big fan of Fp4. You never noted what size film you use. Are we assuming tray development for sheet film?
The Acros100 is a truly outstanding film and well worth exploring. I like the results so far in Pyrocat. Sorry-can't answer the N+1,n+2 questions as 120 makes it difficult to develop for these parameters. It's either the whole roll or nothing. Haven't gotten that far but when using rollfilm I like to keep it simple.

I am using sheet Acros (and 1 roll of 120) in 1:2:100 PMK where I am getting much better results than FP4+. I have found that 11 1/2 min at 21 deg C works well for N dev. Thought that this figure might help if you can compare with other film data. 12 1/2 min came out very contrasty.

Acros is being slow to get a following, presumably due to price, but yields great results.

Mr Peters what is meant by 20:40:940 when used in conjunction with 2:2:100?

Yeah should have said I'm shooting 120. I usually shoot a whole roll in the same lighting conditions very often of the same thing, so N- and N+ development would work out OK for me. Heard bad things about pyrocat and flat scenes, so don't know whether to mess around trying 2:2:100 or just use XTOL if it's flat light.

Just finished my testing. Aros came out at EI80 with pyrocat 1:1:100 for 11mins at 20 degrees C, a higher speed than others have been getting I think. Agitation was constant for first 30secs, then one inversion every 30 secs. Pretty sure I'm going to stick with it and ditch FP4+ since I've had problems with a purple tint remaining. I also want to use the same ISO100/125 film in 120 and 35mm, and acros has much finer grain.

Acros in pyrocat seems to give really good tonal separation based to my shots today which I like. Don't know if anyone else has experienced this.

I am sure what Peter is saying is that he uses 20ml of A, 40ml of B, plus 940ml of water to make 1 liter of developer.

No help from me, but I must chime in on the quality, I shoot some portraits with it and absolutely loved the tonal range.

Claire-since I use NaCarbonate the ratio has to be changed for the pyrocat to work. I use NaCarbonate because that is what I already had in the house. So;and thank you Larry the ratio is 20A;40B; 940Water. (all in ML) Simple enough.

I just looked at my charts and the eqivalent for the 2:2:100 using NaCarbonate for Pyrucat is 20:100:940(all ML) Sorry about that if anyone had tried it.

My results are very similar: 1:1:100 @70F for Acros N =11 minutes, with 30 sec intital agitation, then 3 inversions every 30 sec. EI 80

I agree with the 11 min with ASA agitation. 4X5 sheet film. sutiable for enlarging. John
