Accidentally frozen FP-100c

Hey all,

I keep my fridge loaded with film and today I went to count my inventory of FP-100c/100b/3000b and noticed that in the lower section of my fridge all of my instant Fuji packs are frozen solid. I know it's been said before not to freeze them but has anyone thawed out a frozen pack and used it? What were the results?

yes, we tried it by purpose on a french forum (http://www.polaroid-passion.com/) with fp-100c and fp-3000b for at least a month full deep frozen. the results were not bad. de-freezing in a normal fridge for a day and then one more day from fridge to room teperature. there was maybe a hint of magenta in the colour film, which disappeared from the photo after a day or 2 in daylight, and maybe the fp3000b was half an aperture less sensible. but nothing bad, our test was very encouraging. we did not test the polaroid original film which is said not to tolerate freezing. but who knows...

That is good to know!! My fridge for some reason decided to freeze 75 packs of FP-100 and 8/10 packs of FP-100/3000B. I have them thawing in room temperature as they were covered in ice. So no one experienced issues with developer spread issues or tab issues? Thankfully they are climate sealed in the box to help protect against moisture since my boxes seem to be only half salvageable.

I do keep mine in big ziploc bags... never know when the OJ will spring a leak...

I tested a pack this morning that had been thawing at room temperature for 48 hours. This was one of the packs that was completely submerged in water and frozen. The box was not salvageable as many are not but the protective packaging kept the moisture from getting to the film. Not a hint of moisture inside. I put a pack in my land camera and the photo came out fine. It was a crappy test shot albeit but developer spread just fine and there was no magenta tone. I will do a follow up with results later. If I had to guess I'd say that these packs were frozen in this condition for over a year since I've not had to get into this part of my fridge for quite some time.

Maybe I should read the instructions more clearly. I have always stored my FP-100C in the freezer with the rest of my film. However, on the flip side, I have never seen any issues with my photos.

fuji recommends storing the colour in the fridge long term (not freezing). I have no experience with the results of this. However they do recommend freezing the FP3000b and I can confirm it is pretty much unaffected by the freezing process.

I store my 100C and 100B 4x5 frozen. No problems at all.
