For some reason my Sous Vide was set super high and when I went to go check on my waterbath with my bottles of E6 chemicals that I was bringing to temperature, the waterbath was at 60C. They were in there for less than 20 minutes and the temperature started around 35C...so they wouldn't have been at 60C for long.

I took them out immediately and set the sous vide to 38 (no idea why it wasn't set to this as I only use it for developing). I'm now letting my waterbath come back down to 38C. Are the chemicals still okay or does some type of breakdown happen at those temps? I have a round of 'whatever' rolls that I was planning to dev first...but if it's a near guarantee the chems are ruined I won't bother. If there's a good chance they're find I'll go ahead and dev once the temperatures are stabilized.

Thoughts?

I'm not an authority on the subject. I suspect it's fine . I have been heating all sorts of chemistry in a microwave for decades, I will sometimes heat a portion to 45C then mix it with ambient chemistry. Never any problems. Still as everyone recommends you might want to do a clip test. I would just use it.

If you had liter bottles in the bath they may have been cooler than 60.

For 20 minutes, it will not hurt provided that the chemical concentrates and the mix were fresh. If they do go bad, the CD and fix would go bad first (or blix if you have one). The CD would turn coffee colored and the blix would get cloudy or form a scum.

Thanks both of you. The chems were mixed in November but they still ended up working perfectly. Gotta love Tetenal's stuff. After last night's 6 rolls I'm at 19 developed rolls with this 1L of mixed chems.

Also the new E100 is quite nice!
