I’d take a trip to the 80s. Original Canon EOS film bodies are cheap as chips and the EF line especially the older lenses are quite economical. I was a fan because I can use the same 85 f/1.2 on the latest mirrorless and for 35mm though I’m more medium format these days. If digital isn’t a priority then going with Nikon system isn’t bad, especially the AF-D screw autofocus lenses and various kit lenses. The N80 is also like $20 and works great, though they do eventually break as they’re more plastic. F100 will be more durable but pricey. The Minolta AF system seems quite cheap (there was one at goodwill today with a nifty 50 for $35).
