I recently picked up a black Chinon CM-3 to use as a back up. Nice solid camera, metal shutter.
However it has one common fault.

The shutter release button has to be depressed almost fully to switch on the LED's. More often than not you will unintentionally fire off a frame, the margin of error is so close and very frustrating.

Not to be defeated, on goes the thinking cap. Some type of cushioning is required methinks.
As an angler I use tiny elastic bands to keep the bait on the hook.

So I slip on a couple of tiny bands to the shutter release, problem solved. I can now feel the slight resistance when the LED's come on before the shutter fires, no wasted frames.

If anyone in the UK has this problem (probably too expensive to post to USA)and wants a few bands, just pm me and I'll send you a couple in the post. ( The enlarged picture certainly shows up the dirt! and wear which isn't so noticeable with the eye, I need to clean this camera)

Cool idea, will give it a try, I have both a CM3 and CE3, even more pronounced with the CE3.

It certainly helps, what I used are called "micro bait bands" you should be able to get them in the USA. You use a special tool to put them on, but they can be easily stretched over the release button by hand.

I used two bands to get the slight resistance.

It's made my CM-3 a much nicer camera to use.
