A really expensive 8x10 camera

this camera back has been in development and being tweaked for a long while, im really happy it is finally available !

It was available 3 years ago....now no longer available because they're working on v2.
 
Building a sensor this size is an amazing accomplishment. There are applications where such a camera makes economic sense, but a $100,000 buys a lot of film. With cost of the Hasselblad digital back, I don’t believe I’ll be able to buy enough film in my remaining years to substitute digital.
Moreover, I already spend too much time at computer. Enough is enough.
 
Though I find I the camera fascinating, I agree with you. $100K will buy a lot of film. Maybe a hybrid workflow to save some money by shooting 8x10 film and scan it a real nice scanner. I shoot 8x10 and there's nothing like viewing a negative on a light table. It's a piece of film that was exposed at a place and time. It's physical and could be touched. No software updates required.

Putting that lens on that camera is like putting lipstick on a pig. No matter what you do, it's still a pig. Correct me if I'm wrong, but having a big sensor, well, it's still a digital camera, right? With all the shortcomings that come w/ that, like less exposure latitude than film, a lower tonal scale, and the inability to make good B&W pics. Other than that, it's a really swell camera :}

Can someone please explain why 12 big mega pixels are better than 20 small mega pixels covering the same scene?
