It needs servicing. The very slow speeds work because they are different mechanisms,
I recently got the f2 and i dont know what the T mode is for

After my Nikon F (bought new at the time) and I took a tumble off a motorcycle, the 1/8 second would stay open until I turned the dial. I just used it for years without the 1/8. Finally got it serviced by Nikon House in NYC in the 70's, traded it in later for an F2.
Was the motorbike ok?
We both made it home just fine, plus a few scrapes. It was a low-speed tumble on a sharp curve on a mountain road. Plus, I was 19 and invincible.

There is another way to use T .During my whole photographic life I never had to use T, but as I understand this setting the pressing the shutter release opens the shutter, and pressing the shutter release a second time closes the shutter. With B the shutter stays open as long as shutter release is held down.
I have an extended warranty, but there's a very high deductible. Are you still invincible or has your manufacturer's warranty expired?

The deductibles can get to be expensive. Personally I am tired of piece part body replacement and I am holding out for a complete body replacement with one recovery and one rehabilitation.
I keep a couple of spare bodies wrapped in plastic in a cool, dark place just for that purpose.
