A question for grafmatic owners

I have two Grafmatic film holders that appear to be in very good condition. However I have experienced fogging of a couple of images ususally about images 2 and 3. 1, 4,5 and 6 are fine.

I would have thought that if I had a light leak all the films would be fogged but I am losing two.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Perhaps you have as minor leak, and the images that get fogged are the ones were left at the top of the stack for a longer period of time.

That is possible. I found an excellent repair man in the UK who is willing to service them. I intend to have them cleaned and all the light traps replaced and try again. If they still leak then its operator error.

The proper term would be Operator Assisted Failure, OAF. Don't be an oaf.

Could be a leak, but it can also happen in use, sometimes the back can be pulled away from the body just enough, one sheet will be fogged badly, the others less so. I've had this happen because I use grafmatics on old graflexes handheld and trouble can occur if I get overzealous. Also can happen if the holder doesn't seat properly. Took too long for me to figure out that my Zone VI camera really couldn't fit a grafmatic. Kept trying and kept fogging film, but it was slight enough that I was looking for other causes.

A regular pattern (same septums, same fog) suggests a mechanical problem, more random then probably it's OAF. "OAF" very nice.
